Elisabeth Shea - DCBA President
Welcome to the Dane County Bar Association’s new website! DCBA is here to serve its members and to support and enhance Dane County’s unique and vibrant legal community. This website gives an overview of what we do. Please take a look around.
As a 155-year-old bar association, DCBA has long provided Dane County attorneys with opportunities to continue learning, serve the community, and create the professional relationships that make this such a great place to practice law. DCBA programs like bi-weekly CLE luncheons, the Case Mediation Program, numerous pro-bono opportunities, and the popular Bench Bar Brawl and Senior Lawyers social events have become mainstays in our community.
However, as old as it is, DCBA is not stuck in history. While continuing to provide the quality programs Dane County lawyers and judges have come to rely on, we are open to new ideas and always looking for ways to adapt to our changing professional environment. The Joseph A. Melli Mentorship Program, Law for the Public outreach programs, an annual Law Day celebration, monthly Fridays at Four social events, and a membership option for law students are all newer examples of DCBA programs and ideas designed to better serve our legal community and meet new needs or interests. If you have other ideas, please let us know.
DCBA is made up of an incredible array of dedicated and talented individual volunteers. It is an honor for me to serve as president. I strongly encourage you to get involved, both to make an impact on our professional community and to enrich your own practice. There are numerous ways to volunteer and participate, many highlighted on this website. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have questions or comments, or if you’d like to get involved.
